Why do Empaths have tight hips?

Empaths take on the energy of others as their own. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know that.

When we take on other’s energy, especially negative energy, a fight or flight response is triggered.

What if there was a muscle that you could release that would help turn off you fight or flight response?

Well there is.

The Psoas is known as the fight or flight muscle.

Fight or flight describes the friggin’ function of the Psoas. The Psoas lets us kick and run. 🤯

Not only that, it connects to the diaphragm which controls our breathing. (Through fascia.)

The Psoas muscle connects the lower back through to the hip to the inner thigh.

Big friggin deal Emily.

Yes, big friggin deal, dude!

When the Psoas is tight, it constricts breathing. When breathing is constricted, we kick into fight or flight.

I’m not done.

When there is a real or imagined threat, we send signals to our Psoas saying,

“ʟᴇᴛ’ꜱ ɢᴇᴛ ʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ᴛᴏ ʀ-ʀ-ʀ-ʀ-ᴜᴍᴍᴍᴍʙʟᴇ.”

I. E. Tight Psoas.

And when our psoas is tight, it sends a signal to our whole system that we are in danger.

“𝐻𝑒𝓁𝓅 𝓂𝑒, 𝐼’𝓂 𝓈𝒸𝒶𝓇𝑒𝒹.”

I. E. Fight or Flight

A sedentary lifestyle keeps the muscle in a chronically shortened state. Which means tight.

And as we just learned. Tight psoas = fight or flight.

To compound the issue a little further, the Psoas is the deepest muscle in the core.

Deep means hard to access.

Hard to access means daily modern life doesn’t stretch it.

Tight Psoas + Sedentary Lifestyle = Stress (Overactive Sympathetic Nervous System)

A chronic overactive sympathetic nervous system eventually breaks down and leads to an onslaught of health conditions.

WHY? Because rest & digest (parasympathetic nervous system) is where the body repairs itself.

Plus, the research is wild.

It’s called the emotional core. Trauma is stored there.

So…releasing your Psoas is kinda a big deal. Especially as an Empath. We need to recharge and release to function.

Plus, we are taking on the trauma of the emotionally unhealed.
